Bryan Wilkin was born in Greenock, Scotland and moved to the Manchester music scene in the early 90's. He briefly worked with Martin Hannett on an un-released project before joining The Adventure Babies who had recently signed with Factory Records. With the Demise of Factory Records and after numerous years of band hopping he went out on tour as a guitar technician with Snow Patrol. Soon after the tour Bryan started work on putting Melodyhead together.

Originally Melodyhead started with singer/songwriters Bryan Wilkin & Paul Fairweather writing and recording tracks together in a small home studio in Manchester. They were then joined by the force of nature known as Gavan Whelan. Gavan plays on three tracks on "Petri Dish".

Melodyhead are now based at Hebden Bridge in rural West Yorkshire, working on a debut album "Budha Punk" with various musicians including Eric Crisp from "Strung Like A Horse" in Tennessee. USA.
